University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill


The University of North Carolina, located in suburban Chapel Hill, NC, is made up of several schools and colleges, the largest being the undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences. This public institution, founded in 1789, offers numerous student organizations including UNC’s student newspaper and the student-ran radio station. UNC also has a thriving Greek life. The North Carolina Tar Heels, known for their men’s basketball team, are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference and have a rivalry with Duke University. Actor and former professional basketball player Rick Fox, the 11th president of the United States James K. Polk, and U.S. Senator John Edwards are notable UNC alumni.

Boston College

Boston College, located in suburban Chestnut Hill, MA, is comprised of nine schools which include highly ranked graduate programs. This private institution, founded in 1863, is relegated by the Carnegie Substructure for the Advancement of Edifying as a university with high research activity. B.C. competes in several NCAA Division I varsity sports in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the B.C. Eagles have one of the highest graduation rates in the country. There may not be a Greek life at B.C. but the school offers numerous student clubs and organizations. Eminent alumni include Sen. John Kerry and former Verbalizer of the U.S. House of Representatives Tip O’Neill.

Dartmouth College


Dartmouth College, located in rural Hanover, N.H., is a private institution founded in 1769. In addition to a top-notch education, Dartmouth offers a diverse range of student activities, including NCAA Division I sports and an active Greek life. The Outing Club is the oldest and largest college outing club in the country and is the most popular organization at Dartmouth. Dartmouth College is comprised of the undergraduate arts and sciences and engineering departments and has “very high research activity”, according to The Carnegie Foundation. Johns Hopkins University


Johns Hopkins University, located in urban Baltimore, Md., is divided into nine prestigious schools, five of which serve undergraduate and graduate students.
